Iridology is a non-invasive practice that involves observing patterns, colours and markings in the iris, the coloured part of the eye. Practitioners interpret what they see using traditional iridology charts, as a starting point for conversations about nutrition, lifestyle, stress and self-care. At Priority One Osteo & Wellness, we offer iridology in Burlington as a complementary wellness assessment for people who want another perspective on their wellbeing. It does not diagnose disease and does not replace medical testing.
What iridology is
In traditional iridology, practitioners use detailed iris charts that associate different regions and characteristics of the iris with different areas of the body. Your practitioner observes features such as pigmentation, markings and patterns, then interprets them according to the principles of the practice. Those observations become a way to talk about nutrition, lifestyle habits, stress and preventive self-care. Scientific evidence has not established that iris patterns can reliably identify disease or determine the health of specific internal organs. For this reason, an iridology assessment should be viewed as a complementary wellness service rather than a diagnostic medical examination. What happens during an assessment
The assessment is simple and non-invasive. Your practitioner examines the visible characteristics of your irises, and depending on the method may use magnification or photographs to see the patterns more closely. You then review the observations together and discuss how they are interpreted within the traditional framework of iridology. It is also a chance to talk through your wellness goals, your lifestyle and any areas of concern. There are no needles, medications or invasive procedures involved. Why people explore iridology
People book iridology in Burlington for different reasons. Some are interested in holistic wellness and alternative ways of thinking about the body. Others want another prompt to reflect on their nutrition, habits and goals. An iridology consultation may suit you if you want to:- Explore complementary and holistic wellness practices
- Learn about the traditional principles of iridology

- Talk through nutrition, lifestyle and general wellness goals
- Build greater awareness of your current habits
Iridology and preventive wellness
We believe in patient education and proactive wellness. An iridology appointment can be a moment to reflect on your habits and decide what to prioritize. Preventive health also includes evidence-based measures such as routine physical examinations, appropriate blood work, cancer screening, eye examinations and other testing recommended by your healthcare providers. Iridology complements those measures rather than replacing them.Iridology is not an eye examination
An iridology assessment is not an eye examination. Optometrists and ophthalmologists assess the eyes for vision problems and conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts and retinal disease. Iridology serves a different purpose and should never replace routine eye examinations or medical eye care. If your practitioner observes something of concern, or you are experiencing changes in your vision, eye pain, flashes or floaters, assessment by an optometrist, physician or ophthalmologist may be recommended.Part of a multidisciplinary clinic
